IRC Meeting Jan. 27, 2010, 5 PM EST

Alrighty, now that the split is public and Drupal Commerce has been rebooted, I'd like to recover a bit of the team spirit and make the most of the time we have left until Drupalcon SF. We're going to go for a little bit different time slot this time and aim for 5 PM EST tomorrow, Jan. 27, 2010. Meet in #drupalcommerce on irc.freenode.net. Topics of discussion will involve tightening up everyone's understanding of what DC is and is not, letting people know where development is happening and how we envision people pitching in, and recovering plans for a code sprint in Paris the last week of February.

Anything else we should cover? Anything you'd like to see done before then? Personally, I'm going to aim to have a second draft of the history page done (along with an updated visual) and get the source control workflow documented. Somewhere along the way, Github became the place of choice (which coincides with other contribs like some Views work and Rules 2), and I'm still trying to feel my way around to be comfortable with it.

Maybe this would also be a good time to discuss using Rules instead of CA for expediency...

Thanks to those who sat in and contributed to the discussion. We mostly discussed the topics I mentioned above. Highlights:

  • Pressing ahead with using Git / Github over Bazaar / Launchpad. While community support goes both ways and Bazaar's vocabulary is closer to CVS, Git has the advantage of a nicer collaboration space in Github and Drupal community support in both Features Servers and Drush.
  • Rules vs. CA is still on the table, but we really just need to see code at this point. Damien is up for reviewing the Rules 2 API in development at http://github.com/fago/rules and I'll be e-mailing fago.
  • We're targeting a development sprint in Paris at af83's La Cantine co-working space Feb. 22-26. Need to get that cleared with af83 and the various people interested in coming. However, in order for this to be a profitable time, we'll have our work cut out for us until then.
  • Discussion seems complete on Fieldable Products and the Add to Cart Field, so I'm going to boil that down into a specification and turn it into issues on d.o. Work has already begun at http://github.com/damz/drupalcommerce. I'll get documentation up very soon with pictures on how to use Git / Github to follow along and contribute to development.
  • I floated my second pass at the History page and visual and am still looking for feedback if it's unclear or can be expanded.
