Is it possible to use or implement a custom payment gateway?

I would like to know if its possible to set up a custom payment gateway (instead of using Authorize.net). I would like to implement the following: Setcom (http://www.setcom.co.za/fees.html) or Monsterpay (http://www.monsterpay.com), without affecting the current design and layout of Commerce Kickstart.

Is this possible?

Have a look into the sample payment module.
This is quite well dokumented, to enable you writing your own.
For more details, it might be good to have a look into the paypal module as well.

There you can adapt the concept and change the addresses and maybe procedures, to match your provider.
